You only need to configure custom DNS settings if you are purchasing Web hosting services from another company. (While domain names registered through GetYourChurchDomain works by default with ForMinistry-powered Web sites, you may use the domain name with other Web hosting services. If you're using ForMinistry Web Builder toolkit, please use default DNS settings.)
Many Web hosting companies provide their own DNS servers. A domain name generally has 2 DNS servers associated with it, the Primary and Secondary DNS servers. A DNS entry will look something like this (example):
Primary DNS: ns.nameserver.com
Secondary DNS: ns2.nameserver.com
Secondary DNS: ns2.nameserver.com
Your web hosting company will provide you with the exact format for the DNS entries appropriate to the services it offers. Please obtain that information before proceeding; you will need to use it in step #6 below.
To update the DNS settings for your domain name:
- Click on the Login button on the GetYourChurchDomain.com home page and login using your account information.
