Domain Transfer Process

The domain transfer process may take some extra work on your part to see it through. This list will help you to see how it should work, and how long it might take to complete.

1. You initiate a domain transfer order at GetYourChurchDomain. The GetYourChurchDomain registrar is also known as the gaining registrar.

2. The gaining registrar will contact the domain name's current registrar with a transfer request.

3. Then the current domain registrar (also known as the losing registrar), should contact the registrant (you), usually via email, with instructions to authorize the domain transfer. Some registrars may require a signed fax or notarized letter.
  • The losing registrar contacts the registrant based on contact info in the domain's Whois record. Make sure your domain name's contact info is updated before you initiate a transfer order!
  • The losing registrar may require authorization within a short time period.
  • The losing registrar may not allow transfers within 30-60 days of a domain name's registration, renewal, or expiration.
4. After you authorize the domain transfer, the losing registrar should permit the transfer to go through. This may take up to 5 business days.

5. The domain name gets transferred to GetYourChurchDomain. (You only get billed at this point for the successful domain transfer.)
