Setting up Name-my-Phone

The Name-my-Phone feature gives you a convenient Web page like http://phone.yourchurchhome.org for people to send a SMS text message to your cell phone.

Your cell phone needs to have the text messaging feature enabled. GetYourChurchDomain does not charge any fees for this Name-my-Phone service. However, your cell phone provider may charge for receiving text messages; please check with your provider.

To setup your Name-my-Phone service, follow these steps:
  1. Click on the Login button on the GetYourChurchDomain.com home page and login using your account information.

  2. Click on the "domain names" > "my domains" in the left navigation menu.

  3. Click on the domain name that you wish to configure, listed on the MY DOMAINS screen.

  4. Scroll down towards bottom of Domain Control Panel to section titled "Name-my-Phone Settings". Click on the CHANGE SERVICE button.

  5. On the Service selection screen, click on the "enabled" radio button, then the SAVE CHANGES button.

  6. (You should be automatically forwarded to the Phone Settings page. If not, click on the CONFIGURE button in the Name-my-Phone Settings section of the Domain Control Panel.)

  7. On the Phone Settings page, enter your cell phone's information for receiving SMS text messages:

    • If you change the Host Name field, please only enter a single word; so enter "phone", without quotes, and your Name-my-Phone URL will be phone.yourchurchhome.org, where yourchurchhome.org is your domain name.
    • For Service Type, select your cell phone provider from the list (AT&T Wireless, Cingular, Nextel, Qwest, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile, Verizon, or VoiceStream). If your provider is not listed, select "--Other--".
    • Fill out the Device Email field only if the Service Type selected is "--Other--". The email address is where your text messages are sent, usually in the format of digitalphonenumber@cellphoneprovider.com. Please check with your cell phone provider for your cell phone's email address.
    • Check the Enable Email Alias only if you'd also like a carbon copy of the text messages delivered to additional email addresses. Then fill in the CC Address fields also.
    • Select a Site Theme if you'd like. Use the Preview link to see thumbnails.

  8. Click on the SAVE CHANGES button to finish.

  9. Your Name-my-Phone service is now configured and ready for use! (You may need to wait a few minutes for the DNS information to propagate to your local area's Internet servers.)

Your Name-my-Phone Settings section should look something like this:

  10. Go to your Name-my-Phone address (phone.yourchurchhome.org) and try out the service!
