Transfer a domain name

Transfer a domain name to GetYourChurchDomain, if you already have a domain name registered with a different registrar. When you initiate a domain transfer, you will be purchasing an additional year of domain name registration. This will extend your current domain name's expiration by an extra year.

To transfer a new domain name, follow these steps:
  1. Click on the Login button on the GetYourChurchDomain.com home page and login using your account information. If you don't have login information, please create a new account first.

  2. Click on the QUICK Transfers button under the left navigation menu.

  3. Select the transfer process corresponding to your domain name's ending (.com, .net, or .org, and so on - known as the TLD, or Top Level Domain), and then click on the NEXT button.

  4. Enter the domain name to be transferred (leave out the www part), confirm the domain transfer options, and then click on the NEXT button.

  5. Depending on the domain name ending (TLD), you may need to enter additional information.

    • If you're transferring a domain name ending in .org, you'll need to enter your EPP Authorization Key.
      1. You'll need to either login to your current domain registrar's Web site, or contact your current domain registrar, to get the EPP Authorization Key. (Sometimes this is located on your domain name's whois information page)
      2. Then enter the EPP Authorization Key on the following field.

    • If you're transferring a domain name ending in .com or .net, and you selected Auto Verification as the transfer process in step #3 above, you will see the Pending Orders screen described in step #6 below.

    • If you get an error message about "missing credit card information", please go to "my account" > "my info" on the left-side menu, and enter your credit card information. Then go back to step #2 above.

  6. The next screen titled "Pending Orders" lists the options you've set and the transfer costs. (You will only be charged if the entire domain transfer is successfully completed.) Click SUBMIT to proceed with the transfer.

  7. Now you've completed a domain transfer order. Please check your email for a notice to come from your current registrar to approve the transfer in the next 2-3 days.

Domain Transfer Process

The domain transfer process may take some extra work on your part to see it through. This list will help you to see how it should work, and how long it might take to complete.

1. You initiate a domain transfer order at GetYourChurchDomain. The GetYourChurchDomain registrar is also known as the gaining registrar.

2. The gaining registrar will contact the domain name's current registrar with a transfer request.

3. Then the current domain registrar (also known as the losing registrar), should contact the registrant (you), usually via email, with instructions to authorize the domain transfer. Some registrars may require a signed fax or notarized letter.
  • The losing registrar contacts the registrant based on contact info in the domain's Whois record. Make sure your domain name's contact info is updated before you initiate a transfer order!
  • The losing registrar may require authorization within a short time period.
  • The losing registrar may not allow transfers within 30-60 days of a domain name's registration, renewal, or expiration.
4. After you authorize the domain transfer, the losing registrar should permit the transfer to go through. This may take up to 5 business days.

5. The domain name gets transferred to GetYourChurchDomain. (You only get billed at this point for the successful domain transfer.)
